Skydio would get stuck the minute you go into those thick trees, I doubt it would even try. That and one of the trickest parts is trying to predict where in the landscape Skydio would go. Maybe one day we'll have drone with AI smart enough to track like that but Skydio no. That first open part...

Does Autel require the controller for tracking? One of the reason I really love Skydio is beacon + phone for audio. DJI was always a pain for me cause I'd have to drop the controller in the dirt while I ride the dirtbike then rush back to it.

On the beacon at the bottom you have the + -. If you select those it'll adjust the following 'range' which roughly is altitude. There're four distances. I generally set it to 3 for best results. I'll start at two if the slope has mellow pitch at the beginning of the run then pitches off pretty...

I film a lot of backcountry snowboarding, I suggest first you use fixed track. That will stop wild swings of the drone that you get from snowboarders rapidly changing direction. I've found that if I start tracking from either 10 or 2pm position it tends to deal with the altitude drop better...

Smaller form factor and more reliable connection would get me in a heartbeat. It's been quite a while since Skydio 2 has been out. Been hoping for a while they got something up their sleeves.

Yep Skydio seems to get stuck a lot when I try to film snowboarding. I did some experiment on Sunday and put the beacon on the back of my backpack instead of in my pocket, seemed to work better but I'm not sure since sometimes it's great, other times it sucks. The run before with it in my pocket...

Yeah I had beacon and dropped in over the ridge, it didn't do great job of changing elevation so almost ran into the ground then abruptly stopped. Worst part about snowboarding with Skydio it's prone to getting messed up on radical pitch and elevation changes. In this instance it disconnected...
