Second drone, same problems - Heres the details

No doubt... We had really high hopes for these things when they were announced.

Second drone, same problems - Heres the details

FWIW, the only thing that has been unreliable about my Skydio 2 is the transmission range. I haven't had any flyaways or loss of control...just really poor range. Loss of connection has always resulted in a reliable automatic return to home. I should also note that I have only used the beacon...

Who has upgraded from 2 to the 2+?

We purchased a 2+ earlier this year (a few months after getting a 2 last year). I have had the 2 in my possession since new and have used it on a few jobs with mixed results (the portability is great for travel...the transmission range sucks). A coworker has had the 2+ since we got it and only...

    Anyone making orthomosaics?

For what it’s worth, I tested my Skydio 2 with Drone Deploy a while back and it ran the mission and collected the photos just fine. I processed the photos into a 2D ortho and 3D mesh using Pix4D and the output at least looked decent. I did not have any check points or ground control points...

Commercial Pilot - Primarily DJI - Considering Purchase of Skydio 2+

Up until recently, I used DJI products exclusively. I have a Skydio 2 and I fly it exclusively in manual mode. I played with the beacon just for the experience, but I would never use it on a job (I don't trust its obstacle avoidance capabilities, honestly). The work I do basically amounts to...

    More bad news for DJI

That's not surprising. The only reason I'm here on this forum is because we have to transition our commercial operations from DJI to another brand of client-approvable aircraft. We figured we'd give Skydio a shot. Most of our clients are of the "critical infrastructure" type and do not allow...

FAA to UAS Violation Enforcement for December 2021 (hopefully one of many)

Definitely. People like this give the rest of us a bad name. I've flown RC aircraft for decades, and we weren't considered much of a menace until "drones" became a thing. Learning to fly RC aircraft years ago required patience, attention to detail and a high degree of responsibility that took...

    Hello from Cincinnati

Hi Guys! I've had my Part 107 for a little over 5 years and, up to this point, have used only DJI products. Security concerns among some of our clients these days, though, require that we branch out into some alternative hardware. Due to the low cost of entry, the compact size and the...

    Skydio 2 antenna mod

What a bummer with this aircraft. I fly for work, and we bought a Skydio 2 last year in an attempt to move away from DJI products (a number of our security-conscious clients banned the use of Chinese UAS). I can't fly this aircraft more than about 1,100 feet away before the signal drops out...
