    Case Landings--Your Success Rate?

I've solved that by using a FLAT logo, and improved on that with a LARGER logo. Here's a video:

Colorado State Parks Ranger NOW AGREES WITH ME!

I was bicycling this morning at Chatfield State Park, and spoke with a Park Ranger about my wildlife observations and the fall foliage. During my discussion, I handed her a business card, that identified me as a wildlife photographer and DRONE PILOT. She said that I couldn't fly at the park...

    New to Skydio 2 pilot

Welcome from your neighbor in Colorado! You have a beautiful state there too.

    Skydio LOGO for Landing Pad

Okay, so it would seem that SIZE doesn't matter, nor CONTRAST. It must be looking for B/W and SHAPE. I had contacted Skydio, and the rep that answered, checked with an engineer, but couldn't definitively answer my question, so I just went on a hunch and tried the larger size in B/W, and it...

    Skydio LOGO for Landing Pad

Great! I'd appreciate that! I can tell you that the larger logo was easier for The Bird to spot. Especially from altitude. I've been very pleased. Placing it on the larger BLACK tonneau cover of my truck bed likely helped as well. I refer to my Honda Ridgeline as my "Aircraft Carrier."

    Skydio LOGO for Landing Pad

It might not be the COLOR, rather the CONTRAST. You can't get more contrasty than black & white.

    Skydio LOGO for Landing Pad

So I don't know about COLOR, but using a LARGER logo works perfectly every time. Here's a video:

drone issue with range of flight or location factor - Europe / city area

Well, now you have me wondering if I might have an antenna problem on my bird. Because the short range is exhibited whether I'm using the controller or the beacon. Up till now, I had just figured that Skydio had put in an ineffective radio. But since I use BOTH the Skydio and a fleet of DJI...

drone issue with range of flight or location factor - Europe / city area

Yes. And that is with direct line of sight, using either the controller or the beacon. Not much range at all. This is Colorado, where trees only grow where they can find a source of consistent water, such as a home with an irrigated lawn. So my range isn't affected by foliage or being...

drone issue with range of flight or location factor - Europe / city area

It isn't just in Europe, where you're limited to the 2.4 gHz band. Here in the United States, that's about the maximum range as well. I own a multitude of drones, and the Skydio's don't have much range at all. They are designed for close-in work, tracking and avoiding obstacles. The DJI...

Anyone else a licensed ham radio op?

Aye, KØUNX, Jim, in Jefferson County Colorado. I've thought of using a drone to lift an 80 or 160 vertical, but the short flight time and need for a counterpoise has flashed the word "Impractical." So I do inspect my tower and antennas from time to time, or chase off the Cooper's Hawks that...

Remote ID Broadcast Module for drones

I'm hoping for an ancillary device that attaches with 3M's velcro fasteners so it can be moved from drone to drone. I have several drones, both DJI and Skydio2's, and I'd like to split the cost among my livery. And a power source that is small and light weight like button batteries. I'm...

    Disappointed with Skydio 2

I'm 10 kM SW of Littleton, near where C-470 makes it's "great bend" from EW to NS. Near Chatfield State Park. There should be some great spots in Elbert, Kiowa, Douglas and Arapahoe Counties for that. I ride both a MTB and E-Bike. I'm 76 years old with a badly mangled right leg, so it took...

    Disappointed with Skydio 2

Whereabouts in Colorado? Yeah, we've been blessed with SHORTS weather for a while, and it's time for us to make like the bears and hibernate for a while. Just upgraded two bicycles, and am itching to try out the upgrades as soon as the weather cooperates! No, I think you're reading too much...
