I too have been irritated by this Skydio2 characteristic. For whatever reason it does not acquire a good GPS fix until it has moved laterally some distance and it won't rise above 20 or 30 feet. There are times when the only option is vertical and thus the Skydio won't rise.

I am not a sports or activity user, instead I enjoy shooting videos and photos where I can fly near and around objects paying more attention to what I'm shooting than I am to avoiding what I am shooting. I like the beacon for the occasional quick shot but I'm at least 90-95% on the controller.

Yes, I've had that happen a couple of times. No idea why it happens, fortunately it is infrequent. Each time I employed the Microsoft method: I power cycled everything (including the phone). Seemed to work.
