Been over a year since my last flight

Last flight was end of August 2021. Had things come up, not the least of which are medical problems for the wife and I. Sooo, looking for something to take my mind off of things and figured I would break out the Skydio 2. Charging everything up now. And guess I should check for firmware...

Connecting cell phone to the controller kills the phone

Yes, I did that. I was talking to Sutton via email and I let him know what seemed to correct the problem for me. Maybe the app just needs some tweaking concerning how to recover from a controller that doesn't have enough juice to run. But I'll just keep an eye on it and see if the problem...

Connecting cell phone to the controller kills the phone

Well, after I fully charged the battery in the controller, 2 out of 2 tries had me connecting to it via my phone, just fine. I was able to take my flight without issues. So perhaps the app just doesn't know how to respond when the controller is starving for juice? At the very least I am going...

Connecting cell phone to the controller kills the phone

I am having a problem with the Skydio 2 app crashing my phone when using the controller. Samsung Galaxy 8+. Running version 9 Android. I hook up the phone to the controller via the USB cable, and the phone goes black and stays black. It has happened five times now, requiring me to put the...

Can you narrow the obstruction passthrough region?

I did get a response from Skydio on 01-20, but it basically said something to the effect that gee, I had discovered the limit on gap size for the Skydio 2 to fly through. It is not able to be altered in the app, but my feedback will be forwarded somewhere...... :/

Can you narrow the obstruction passthrough region?

I have submitted a ticket to Skydio asking about this, but they have been rather slow to respond to an earlier ticket I posted with them. But it was a long weekend........

Can you narrow the obstruction passthrough region?

Tried my hand with the "follow me" flying the other day, and found that the Skydio 2 got it's panties all in a wad trying to fly between some bamboo culms along my path. I measured the areas where it was choking up, and it looks like if the passthrough tunnel was less than 5 ft, side to side, it...

    New landing pad

I am surprised that Skydio doesn't offer their own landing pad with their logo on it. Trying to land on the case just doesn't seem like a sure thing to me. Seems like it would be rather easy for the Skydio to be slightly off center and then just slide off into the dirt, damaging one or more blades.

First flight today, with some impressions and comments

Seems like Vegas Pro handled the large files just fine, and looks like the 4K/60fps HDR processed OK too. But now that I think about it, how the heck would I know? I know my monitor was made before HDR was common, and certainly is not displaying HDR to me. So trying to play around with the...

First flight today, with some impressions and comments

I guess I'm not looking at it that way at all. Apple just needs to give me a good reason to buy one. So far, they haven't been able to do that. Unless it can do something significantly better than what I am currently able to get out of my PCs, why should I? To be honest, sometimes Apple...

First flight today, with some impressions and comments

I'm curious about what sort of difference you saw in videos rendered using a MAC instead of a PC. I've come close to buying a MAC over the years, but always found a reason to decline. Actually, I was real hot to buy the very first Macintosh when Apple first came out with it. The Apple II was a...

First flight today, with some impressions and comments

Personally I would prefer that the video be broken up into smaller files. I believe it is just safer that way. Video files can, and do, get corrupted, so if that happens with the single large file, you have lost EVERYTHING from that flight. With multiple files, quite likely you will just lose...

First flight today, with some impressions and comments

First time flying the Skydio since I got it the other day. I ran it solely off of the controller connected to my phone, since that is really the way I am used to flying anyway. Pretty uneventful, running through two batteries. Video files are HUGE, though, so I haven't tried loading them into...

Part 107 pilots beware, Skydio is NOT your friend

Unfortunately, I don't believe that those major players are all that enthusiastic about hobbyist class drones cluttering up the airspace they would like to have unobstructed and traffic free. I do not believe they will be on our side.

    Hot?

Well, I don't believe the NVIDIA processor chip was designed to be used in an underhood automotive application. So just for giggles I checked the specs on the NVIDIA Tegra X2 SOC processor, and it appears that the upper temp limit for operation is 203.9 degrees F. Hopefully it doesn't get any...
