That's mind blowing you were able to get out 3,500+ feet with just the beacon and phone.... Wow! Makes me wonder how far you would have been able to go with the controller.

The 2+ beacon spec claims 3 km which is 3x that distance.
But I suspect that he had more interference than he thinks. I bet half or more of those boats have Wi-Fi routers in them. They don’t need to be occupied to generate signal.
