Since I got my new larger case I no longer have a landing pad so I made one using a mouse pad. Soft, easy to carry inside of case. Although I rarely use it, it's nice to have available. I can't test it right now since we are experiencing heavy snow.
I don't know how exact the launch point needs to be for keyframes, I thought that might be worth a try too.
