We have a job opportunity where I've suggested flying our 2+ with 3D scan to capture things our laser scanner won't be able to.
This is an industrial complex. The area of concern is a 1st story roof about 40 ft wide that is covering an alleyway between 3 & 4 story buildings over a distance of about 200 ft.
What can I expect time-wise for this flight to capture the roof top and the facades of the surrounding buildings?
Also, are there settings in 3D scan to not get so close to the structures? We don't need lots of detail, so if I stay 10-15 feet away from the walls and roof as opposed to the default 3 ft, I imagine I'll save a lot of time and have fewer unregistered cameras when processing later.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

I've had to experiment with the setting. The controller will tell you how many images it will take begin the scan begins. I think it depends on how your going to process it into a 3D image, what file format. I still don't have that phase down yet. I've tried a few programs and haven't found what I wanted.. Good luck. please share what you learned
