Beacon Magnets size and orientation

I just found out the beacon has 4 magnets in it. Strong enough to stick to a vertical surface.
Here is a couple pics showing location and orientation.

Well that’s intriguing. What’s up with that I wonder?

I had to go get mine out and try it, everything in the kitchen is either stainless or aluminum - had to go stick in on my car .

Beacon mount using magnets?

Anyone tried to attach the beacon using earth magnets? I noticed there is 2 magnets on the top and 2 on the bottom of the back side of the beacon. They are probably not strong enough but paired with additional earth magnets the grip is very strong. I got my phone on magnetic mounts in the truck...

I’m thinking the magnets have something to do with providing input to the beacons processor when using the “wand” capability. Above my pay grade to say how that works.

A beacon holder using a steel base that had a plastic ring to contain the beacon from sliding off sideways might work well as a handlebar carrier that let you pull the beacon out quickly to wand. I'd still want a tether strap hooked to the bars though.

Sounds like a great 3D winter project.
