Just ordered a 2+ after much hand wringing. I tour on my motorcycle and really wanted the OI and tracking the Skydio offers, but have been scared off by the talk of poor manual control. Time will tell I suppose.

I think you'll enjoy it. I primarily use the controller and am happy with it. It's really not that different once you get used to it.
