I have an almost never flown Skydio 2 that obviously has been sitting for a long time.
My controllers and phone apps are indeed in conflict with the drone’s OS.

I can’t seem to update bcuz initially the message is Update required to launch but when I try to check for update to begin tge process, tge message is This drone is up to date.

I reinstalled tge phone app, and did a data reset on the drone in the Android ap.
I do have also an iphone that I haven’t tried.

Can I do something to rid the drone of this Old Old program?

Have you ever successfully used that particular phone to operate the drone?

I know skydio is a bit finicky with Android phones. I use Motorola phones, my old G6, and stylus 2020 and 2022 will work with it, and update software (when there was software to update). But my moto 5G Ace wouldn't work with it.

No Joy.
I tried all together now three phones, S22, S25, Iphone 16 max?
I tried letting the app walk through switching to wifi, download then switch to drone to install, BUT as that works on newer versions above this old old program, I was not given that process.

Instead I used two phones with data networks and one phone wo a cell connection but joined a hotspot on my data phone.

I got a pause checking for the update and hat was different than an immediate This Drone is up to Date, but after a pause tge same message popped up.

I am unable to launch and I have not seen a screen where the Skydio2 here does any calibrations, though the lights flash normal and go solid and the gimbal does everything fine.

I am in a loop where UPDATE IS REQUIRED then Drone is up to date!!
I have done data resets on the info screen when connected to drone’s wifi, no clue if it did it though.

I guess I can try the power cycle 6 times and hope for green lights? I wish someOne from Skydio reads this and chimes in……..I emailed [email protected] and got a auto reply of a ‘case’, but no further contact…..

Maybe try the connect to computer and open the drones ip webpage? Is there someWhere to do stepped updates? Any Skydio reps who could provide a link?

3. Advanced Troubleshooting
  • Stepped Updates: Some older Skydio versions may require updates in stages, so directly jumping from version 6 to 14 might not be supported. Try updating to an intermediate version first, if available.
  • Factory Reset: If the drone is stuck in an update loop or has persistent issues, consider performing a factory reset (after backing up any media from the SD card). Then try the update again.
  • Check Drone's Web Interface: Try connecting to the Skydio 2's Wi-Fi with a computer and opening a web browser to http://192.168.0.1/api/ to see if there are any options to manage updates or access more information, though this might be a less commonly used approach.

Skydio rep Rajah called and assisted by entering stepped updates x 4 to bring me up to the latest version. He stayed on the line for each download and installation that he arranged on my account one at a time on the backend. Thanks to Rajah!

All done, see update below.

I was not aware that Skydio won't accept a repair eval if it has been opened and fixed up in the past. This is email copy from the support team.

This error typically indicates a persistent internal hardware fault—often related to one of the vehicle’s sensors or onboard systems—that prevents safe flight. Unfortunately, it’s not something that can be resolved through firmware updates or field troubleshooting and generally requires a detailed internal evaluation by our Repair Team. Re V30 ERROR

That said, I do need to let you know that Skydio is unable to perform repair evaluations or service on any units that have been self-repaired or disassembled by the user. Based on your photos that the unit has been opened, we won’t be able to proceed with a repair evaluation or any servicing of this particular Skydio 2 unit.
