I am running into a similar issue...
I cannot update the firmware with the app. I have tried both android and iphone devices. I keep running into the same issue.
Once connected (by phone), it tells me I must "Update before Launch". I click the "Check for Updates" and it gives me a pop up "Software is up to date, OK", but it still gives me the "Update before Launch". I can't get out of this loop of figure out how to update manually.
I opened a case with support, but does anyone have any suggestions in the meantime?
